Homestead State School offers a multi-age classroom setting, supporting students from Kindergarten to year 6. We implement the C2C P-6 curriculum planning resources in all learning areas and follow the Queensland Kindergarten Guidelines. Specialising in individual curriculum planning for our students. To further support the curriculum learning, students will regularly travel to Charters Towers to participate in swimming and music lessons, with specialised teachers.
Homestead State School also offers on-line learning for students in digital technologies and languages, from Grades 4, 5 and 6. Additional incursions will include professional coaches in Tennis, Athletics, performances include Musica Viva and Charters Towers World Theatre Company. School camps are offered to ALL students every year.
Some students may experience challenges with some aspects of their learning. If this is the case multiple specialists can be called upon to assist your child's learning journey. These may include Guidance Officer, Speech-language Pathologists and General Health workers to name a few.
Reporting
During the year, students will be issued with several reports. These reports are:
Twice a year parent/teacher interviews (term 1 and 3)
End of semester report cards (term 2 and 4)
National testing in years 3 and 5 (NAPLAN).
Parent / teacher interviews
These interviews are offered in term 1 and term 3 between teachers and parents to discuss student progress. Throughout the year additional interviews may be required and need to be arranged at a mutually convenient time. Should you wish to arrange a meeting please contact the school office.
